BMW have now confirmed that their "World Green Car of the Year" winner, the BMW 118d will go on sale in Australia, sometime in the final quarter of the year. The BMW 118d consumers a miserly 4.5 litres per 100 kilometres, with carbon dioxide emissions of 119 grams per kilometre.
The BMW 118d is powered by two litre four cylinder diesel turbo charged engine delivering 105 kW of peak power and 300 newton metres of torque, capable of taking the 118d from 0 to 100km/h in 9.0 seconds.

The BMW 118d features "Auto Start Stop" switches off the engine at the lights to save fuel and an "Intelligent Energy Management" system that uses brake energy to efficiently generate electric power for the car's on-board network.
For me, the highlight of the BMW 118d is that an environmentally friendly car that looks just like a regular model. No gimmicks and no butt ugly design. If only I could afford a BMW I may consider it.
