Volkswagen have released their first images of their vision of the automotive world 20 years from now.

“Our designers and developers have created three innovative vehicle concepts exclusively for this web special in order to illustrate the automotive world of tomorrow. We have called them ‘one’, ‘ego’, and ‘room.’ They give an idea of the shape that our visions of the future could take. They demonstrate how the cars of the future can communicate with traffic lights, how holographic displays in the cockpit can assist the driver and how we can generate even more driving pleasure and still keep our cars emission-free,” Jochen Sengpiehl, Head of Marketing, Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, explained.

If the Volkswagen 'Room' is a window to the future, someone better warm up the Delorean because I'm thinking I'd rather step back in time rather than forward.


Ugghh... looks like Volkswagen have decided to lodge a new challenger for my top 10 ugliest concept cars list.

The Volkswagen 'One' looks like a seat on wheels, that just may topple over at any second.

The Volkswagen 'Ego' is clearly the pick of the bunch, although I'm not sure whether I'm looking at the front or the back? I'm also guessing that in the future, windscreens are an optional extra.

This post celebrates those dogs. The concept cars that make you groan and want to look away. The kind of concept cars that make you yearn for the pedestrian life.

So here's a few concepts that just don't got no alibi, they's UGLY... let's countdown the ten ugliest concept cars...

Number 10: Nissan Round Box

Nissan gave this appealing concept and equally appealing name. The Round Box, isn't actually round, but it does have curves in all the wrong places. Looks like it was designed by Derek Zoolander after a payote trip and a rough night with two midgets and a donkey.

Number 9: Hyundai Hellion

Shares some of the Round Box style cues, but with a splash of gold for extra "class". Looks like someone has looked at the final design and said, "hmmm, starting to look a little lame... I know, lets whack on some really big wheels".

Number 8: Honda Bulldog

The Bulldog may have a beefy and aggressive name, but it's look is anything but. It does not look like a muscle machine, and what is that colour? Fuschia?

Number 7: Renault Be Bop

Ok, not strictly U-G-L-Y, but deserves a spot due to it's blandness. Besides that, the windows look stupid... they offend me.

Number 6: Mazda Mono Posto

Taking stupid to the next level, this butt ugly trouser nugget is perfect for the driver with no friends, no luggage and no taste. At least they had the good sense to make it red.

Number 5: Mercedes Benz Bionic Car

Like the relaunched Bionic Woman, this thing just doesn't have long term appeal. Apparently it was designed to look 'fish' like. If you want to drive Nemo, be my guest, just drive at night time so no one need look at you.

Number 4: Volkswagen 1 Litre

Maybe inspired by the Mono Posto... but why? It might be environmentally friendly, but that doesn't mean it has to be U-G-L-Y. Plus, 1 Litre?? You want to be stopping at the service station every 10 minutes?

Number 3: Peugeot Moovie

I hope the designers were joking? What a waste of time and money! This thing just looks bizarre. This is a concept car, but I'm scratching my head wondering what that concept is?

Number 2: Nissan Pivo 2

Yes, it rotates. Wow. If it's alright with you, I'd rather drive a car that didn't look as though it'd been designed by a five year old girl with crayons.

Number 1: Honda Fuya Jo

It's like a little granny flat on wheels. It's like that Honda robot ate a bad curry, got a bad case of stomach cramp, and then crapped out this brick with wheels.
