I only posted my appreciation for the Lexus LF-A concept car a couple of days ago, so I'm surprised this one slipped through with out me noticing. Auto Express, a motoring site from the UK, posted some pictures of what is considered to be the LF-A prototype.

The is perhaps the best evidence yet that the V10 powered beast will one day be seen cruising our roads. If you want to see more pictures of the prototype in action, check out the Auto Express site.

The LF-A was first seen at the 2005 North American International Auto Show, with a revised version again making an appearance in 2007. It clearly falls within the 'exotic' category as you can tell from the images here.

In 2007, Lexus GB director Steve Settle confirmed that both a V10 and hybrid version of the LF-A would be produced. The LF-A is rumoured to include a 5 litre engine said to turn out over 370 kW. Top speed is said to be around the 320km/h mark.

Prototypes of the LF-A have been spotted being tested at the Nürburgring, in Nürburg, Germany. It is suggested that the production version will include a V10 engine, which would place the LF-A in direct competition with the Lamborghini Gallardo and the Porsche 911 (997). The price tag is far from confirmed but is expected to be around the $100K USD mark.

It will be interesting to see how long it takes for us to see the LF-A on the road, but from all appearances it definitely looks like a car worthy of our time.
