Chrysler Firepower concept
Jul 18th, 2007 by Motor Dude
The Chrysler Firepower grand tourer concept car made its debut at the 2005 North American International Auto Show. Design wise it is sleek and, dare I say, "refined". Does it look a little like the Dodge Viper to you? If so, that may be because of its Dodge Viper based chassis.

Performance wise the Firepower sounds like a beast! The 2005 concept was powered by a 6.1-liter HEMI V8 engine. The SRT-developed engine is exclusive to the Chrysler Group's high-performance products. The Firepower concept features a rear-wheel drive chassis with suspension and brakes befitting a performance vehicle.

The Firepower features a 5-speed automatic transmission and the Chrysler Group estimate that it will move from 0-60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds and estimates a top speed of 175 mph. The Firepower is capable of putting out 312kW (425bhp).

The Firepower concept sits on massive billet aluminium wheels measuring 19x12 inches in the front and 20x12 inches in the rear.

The striking exterior is described by Chrysler as Hydro Silver Pearl, with dark carbon fiber and polished aluminium accents. The interior features Oyster leather and the gauge setup is most definitely eye catching.

The big question is, will the Firepower see production? Well, if internet rumors are to be believed then it is close to getting the nod, although there have been no official announcements from Chrysler to confirm or deny this. If it does make its way into the market, it is likely to sit just above the Crossfire in terms of price. 2008 might just be a big year for the Chrysler brand.
