Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X celebrates market release
Oct 1st, 2007 by Motor Dude
Big news for Mitsubishi Lancer Evo fans today with Mitsubishi Motors Corporation announcing the launch of the Lancer Evolution X high-performance 4WD sedan, newest of the company's legendary vehicles, at dealerships throughout Japan.
The goal in creating the Evo X was a noble one; to make the car as fast as possible, while also making it as safe to drive as possible.
The Lancer Evolution X achieves its high level driving performance thanks to its new high-output and lightweight 2.0-liter DOHC MIVEC turbocharged engine with aluminum block, an all-new body and stiffer suspension.

Complementing the powerful on road performance is the kind of a safety specifications that you would expect from a high end performance car.
The Evo X comes with the Twin Clutch SST 6-speed automated manual transmission that incorporates a dual automated clutch system to deliver lightning-fast, slick shifting.

All Lancer Evolution X GSR models are fitted with the S-AWC vehicle dynamics control system. The system intelligently manages several component systems to regulate drive torque and braking force at each wheel, reading and reflecting driver intent in real time over a wide range of situations.

The new engine is a step up from the legendary 4G63 that was featured in the Evo 9. The Lancer Evolution X is powered by a new turbocharged engine that adds a high-performance turbocharger to the 4B11-type 2.0-liter 4-cylinder 16-valve DOHC MIVEC unit used in the Galant Fortis. Developing more power over the full rev range, this engine generates more torque at 422 Nm (43.0 kg-m)/3500 rpm and has better response than the 4G63. The good news keeps on coming as the new engine is also lighter and returns better environmental performance.

As you can see from the shot of the interior, the inside of the Evo X keeps with the tradition of fairly plain looking trim and features seen in past Evo's. But then, you not buying an Evo for its interior are you?

This is one of those cars I would love to get my hands on, and I'm willing to guess that I'm not going to be the only one!
