Subaru Impreza WRX STI vs. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII

The Subaru Impreza WRX STI and the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII. Both blindingly fast cars. Both lusted after by fan boys and video game junkies alike. If you had a choice, which one would you choose?
Now I know where I'd be putting my money, but thankfully, we have the boys from Top Gear putting the two through their paces.
Now the Evo was obviously a lot quicker around the track, however the STI seems to have that indefinable quality that makes the decision a little more difficult.
Perhaps then we should take a look at what Fifth Gear had to say on the matter.
Well, Fifth Gear seemed to sit on the fence a little as well. I guess what both clips have pointed out is that the STI and the Evo 8 are very closely matched. The Evo 8 may have a slight edge in handling, however the STI has its own strong points. At the end of the day, it would seem that the primary deciding factor is the badging. Would you prefer the diamonds of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII? Or would you rather the starry skies of the Subaru Impreza WRX STI?
What would I choose? Well, that's simple, we all know that diamonds are forever, right?

They are both great cars but I too would have to go with the Evo. A friend of mine has a WRX and I know he loves that car but for some reason I would choose the Evo over the WRX.
