The Smart car, not smart enough to avoid a concrete wall?

Got sent a link to the attached clip this morning. It shows a 'crash test' of a Smart car. Not sure how scientific the testing was. I'd much prefer to take on board the EuroNCAP or ANCAP results. I'd be interested to see how it goes in a side impact.
My first question though is, if this is a Smart car, then why didn't it avoid the concrete wall?

Yes its a smart car but its not being used in that fashion
